About Me
My name is Alissa Dincau. I live in Santa Clarita, CA with my husband Darel and our four beautiful children. Our oldest son Joshua is twelve years old, our daughter Brittany is six, our son William is three, our youngest son Tristan is one and we have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (dog) named Luke. I have been working with young children and their families for over sixteen years now. I worked as a nanny for two years. I worked as an infant/toddler teacher in a childcare center for five years and as a preschool teacher for three years. I have been running a licensed family childcare in my home since January of 2002. I have three terrific assistants that work with me in my home childcare that make it possible for me to pursue my childbirth education and doula work. I am trained in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, childbirth education and early childhood development. I have received my birth doula training and certification from DONA International. I have received both my childbirth educator and postpartum doula training and certifications through CAPPA. I also work as a baby nurse, antepartum doula and I volunteer as a Teen MOPS Leader for the SCV Pregnancy Center. I have been involved with La Leche League since 2001. I have over twenty college units in child development and I have been certified in CPR and First Aid every year for the last sixteen years. I also have completed a background clearance and a Child Abuse Central Index check through the Department of Justice. I have personal experience in caring for preemies. Two of my sons spent time in the NICU after they were born and one was sent home on an apnea monitor. I am happy to say they both are now happy and healthy. In addition, I was successfully able to nurse both even though I wasn't even able hold one of them until he was two weeks old because he was on a respirator and tube fed my pumped breast milk up until that time. I can help parents on a personal level who are going through a similar situation. I can also help them with the additional care a preemie requires after being released from the hospital.
