Happy Hearts Licensed Family Childcare and Preschool
License #: 197411497

Our Daily Schedule

Thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about the childcare and preschool program I provide here at Happy Hearts Childcare and Preschool. I hope the following information will help you to decide if this program is the right one for your child. The following are the responses to some frequently asked questions parents have when looking for a program for their child. I hope you find it helpful and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

First, some general information about the program. Happy Hearts is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Meals and snacks are provided for children old enough for regular table food. Cribs, rest mats, blankets, pillows and sheets are also provided. The parents do provide infant food, diapers and wipes. I am licensed for up to 14 children, including my own 4 children, when I have an assistant working with me.

I have been in the childcare profession for over fifteen years now. I worked as a nanny for two years. I worked as an infant/toddler teacher in a center for five years and as a preschool teacher in a center for three years. I have been running a licensed family childcare/preschool in my home since January of 2002. I have over twenty college units in child development and I have been certified in CPR and First Aid every year for the last fifteen years. I am a member of the Family Day Care Association of the Santa Clarita Valley where I attend monthly meetings and various workshops throughout the year.

As part of my Childcare program, I do provide a preschool curriculum.  The curriculum we use is Star-Brite Learning Program (www.star-brite.com). Please know that when your child graduates from Happy Hearts Preschool, he/she will know all they need to in order to be ready for kindergarten.  Everyday in my program your child will have plenty of opportunities for free play, to sing songs, listen to stories, dance to music, arts and crafts projects, enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities and interact with other children. (Please see Our Daily Schedule above). The curriculum is geared for children ages 2 1/2 to 5.  I will adjust it accordingly to each child’s age and skill level. Children are never forced to participate in any activity — free play is always made an option. However, I try to make the activities appealing to the children and the majority of the time they do choose to participate and I believe enjoy taking part. I believe that children learn best when they are having fun. That is my goal as a childcare provider/preschool teacher. To teach the children their ABC’s, 1-2-3’s, colors, how to get along and work well with others and all the other things children should learn prior to starting Kindergarten, but most importantly, for them to have fun doing it.

Safety is a number one concern amongst parents, including myself. As you tour my home you will notice all of the safety precautions I have taken in providing your children with a safe environment. From cabinet locks to door locks to safety gates to a home security system, I think you will find my home has been made as safe as possible for your child to learn and play in. You will notice I don’t have fancy knick-knacks or clutter within the play areas. Everything within their access range is safe for them to touch and play with.

Another major concern is cleanliness and health issues. All toys are cleaned and sterilized on a regular basis. Good hand washing habits are taught and practiced on a regular basis to keep germs to a minimum. Of course children do get sick, but I do my best to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

Everyday, your child will be sent home with a “My Day at Happy Hearts" paper that will keep you  informed of your child’s daily activities.

As a parent myself, please know that I recognize how important one on one time is for young children. I will always do my best to give each child the love and attention they need and deserve. I will do my best to provide your child with the care I know as a parent, you would want them to have. I want parents to be able to go to work with the comfort of knowing their child is being well cared for.

I hope this information has put your mind somewhat at ease and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Let me know if you would like a list of references, I would be happy to provide you with one at your request. Please call or e-mail me to schedule an appointment to come and meet with me and my assistants and to tour my facility or if you have any further questions or concerns.
